BBAC Revives Hamra Street in Collaboration with “Ahla Fawda” NGO
BBAC held a joint press conference with "Ahla Fawda" NGO, to unveil a colossal mural, within the bank’s participation in the third Hamra Street festival, which took place on Sunday, May 29, 2016, under the theme Eat, Play, Laugh. The mural was implemented by the young Lebanese artist and architect Jad El-Khoury, over the façade of BBAC’s building in Hamra.
Commenting on this event, Mr. Nadim Hamadeh, Assistant General Manager for Banking at BBAC, said: “Being “Your Caring Bank”, we, at BBAC are always keen to be part of activities that aim at building a better society. Our participation in Hamra Festival with "Ahla Fawda" NGO reflects this target by creating cultural spaces and spreading joy." He added: "The huge unveiled mural aspires to revive Hamra Street, which is Beirut’s most vibrant street, and its placement on BBAC’s building will bring contentment to the hearts of the passers-by through this cultural addition, proving that our bank is an essential part of Hamra Street’s authenticity."
“This initiative brings so much joy to so many faces around Beirut and that alone makes it all worthwhile”, said Mrs. Imane Assaf founding president of Ahla Fawda Association. She added: “Our mission is to spread joy and we are extremely happy to be in a position to add more color to Hamra, and more smiles to the faces that pass by and see the beautiful art works by our own Lebanese talent. Encouraging and supporting the youth, who are determined to make this country a more beautiful place, is extremely important to us. We were able to accomplish that through our partnership with BBAC, and we are very grateful for the support, which we hope will continue, till we see all of Beirut turn into one big green and open air culture and art museum.”
For his part, artist Jad El-Khoury commented saying: “Hamra reflects the real image of Lebanon that I want to expand all over; it is always artistic, vibrant, and successful”. He added: “The mural features a doodle art style; a mix of live ideas put in a single art form, random lines creating an infinity of forms and colors. Today’s work is a sequel to previous work, it represents an individual in society surrounded by masses and patterns, and in this project in Hamra, we witness that this individual became aware of his individuality and stepped outside his surrounding to take a breath and clear his thoughts.”
It is worth mentioning that BBAC is determined to constantly communicate with its surrounding community, whether through products and services it offers, or through development initiatives and humanitarian, social and cultural activities, carried out or supported by the bank, proving once again that BBAC is "Your Caring Bank”.
