BBAC Takes Part in MUBS's Young Entrepreneur Contest Ceremony
Mr. Ghassan Assaf, Chairman and General Manager of BBAC, participated in MUBS’s Young Entrepreneur Contest ceremony. The event was organized by the Modern University for Business and Science (MUBS), in collaboration with the United Nations Information Center in Beirut, to announce the winners of the "Entrepreneurship for Youth to the Year 2016" contest, at the UNESCO Palace, Beirut.
The competition, held under the auspices of BBAC, aims to develop a culture of entrepreneurship, stimulate the spirit of innovation and creativity among the youth, and to build confidence in their abilities through unleashing their imagination to design small-scale projects able to build their capacities and promote entrepreneurship.
As a guest of honor and a key speaker at the event, Mr. Assaf shared his experience and advice with the youth, around the topics of digital economy, Internet and the role of technology and modern economy in entrepreneurship.
In his speech, Mr. Assaf shared with the students success stories of young entrepreneurs, stressing that the most successful people in the world of innovation, particularly in the digital economy, shined in their early working lives. He also pointed out that success in modern economy is open to all entrepreneurs, and accessible to all those aiming for development, especially in the digital domain.
Mr. Assaf then mentioned the difficulties and challenges young people face with the current recession and lack of job opportunities, and how these conditions play a role in urging young people towards creativity and innovation. He said: "Due to the rising unemployment ratio in developed countries, many young men and women commenced to establish their own companies based on innovation, especially in the domains of informatics applications and E-commerce because it does not require a large capital but new executable concepts."
Mr. Assaf also spoke about the possibility of youth in innovation and creativity in different areas in addition to digital economy and Internet, especially with the presence of many facilities, saying: "There are a number of programs available to entrepreneurs and emerging companies to obtain funds or soft loans, such as the "Kafalat loans for Entrepreneurs”, that can be accessed through BBAC, which contributed to the creation of many local success stories in various areas."
It is worth mentioning that BBAC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MUBS in 2015, in order to open up more opportunities for both students and bank’s staff for knowledge exchange, along with establishing experiences, aptitudes, and communication networks in different areas.

Sheikh Ghassan Assaf: BBAC Seeks Further Growth in 2016 - The Daily Star
The drop in oil prices poses a challenge to growth, but BBAC is determined to capture a bigger share of the banking market by raising its loans to deposits ratio. In an interview with the Lebanese newspaper The Daily Star, BBAC's Chairman - General Manager Sheikh Ghassan Assaf shared his plans to grow the bank’s loan portfolio domestically and regionally, and his insights on key issues facing the economy and the banking sector.

BBAC Takes Part in Cyprus-Lebanon Business Forum
BBAC, in the person of its Chairman and General Manager Sheikh Ghassan Assaf, participated in Cyprus-Lebanon Business Forum, which was held in Limassol-Cyprus, from February 19 till February 21, with the participation of Cypriot ministers, more than 250 businessmen from Lebanon and Cyprus, as well as economic sectors’ representatives from both countries.
BBAC’s Chairman and General Manager Sheikh Ghassan Assaf represented Lebanese banks in the forum. The delegation of Lebanese Banks Association, headed by BBAC, participated in the forum due to its importance in promoting the bilateral business relations between Cyprus and Lebanon, creating opportunities to boost investment, generating new jobs, facilitating the work of investors and building a communication network between participants from different countries.
In his speech, Sheikh Assaf stressed the strong ties between Lebanon and Cyprus, and the role Cyprus played as a safe haven for people fleeing for safety from Lebanese war.
Sheikh Assaf also spoke about the Lebanese banking system; its services and the growth of the sector in terms of expansion, increasing balance sheets and capitals, and the role played by this sector, he said: "The Lebanese banking sector is a very prominent and a vibrant sector in Lebanon and is the main driver of the economy. It is no secret that the sector is also facing many challenges nowadays. However, we are confident that the Lebanese banking sector will surmount all of these challenges as it has done so successfully, time and time again in the past.”
Sheikh Assaf’s speech highlighted as well Lebanese banks operating in Cyprus, and the opportunities the end of Cyprus’s 2013 financial crisis created for Lebanese investors, and so he said: “The destinies of our two countries, Lebanon and Cyprus, have been intertwined in hardship and in success. For decades the people in both countries have continuously built bridges of cooperation that resulted in stronger, cultural, economic and social ties. At BBAC, we are proud to be the builders of one of those bridges that have stood strong for 3 decades.”
He added: “A while ago, we celebrated the bank's 30th Anniversary of presence in Cyprus, by inaugurating our new building in Limassol with the honorable presence of His Excellency the President of the Republic Mr. Nicos Anastasiades and the Central Bank Governor Mrs. Chrystalla Georghadji. Their personal attendance and participation was a strong sign of encouragement to us which surely extends to all Lebanese banks operating in Cyprus.”
It is worth mentioning that this forum will contribute to the growth potential of Cyprus, through increasing Lebanese investments in Cypriot banking or real estate or tourism sectors in addition to other sectors, where the Cypriot market provides the Lebanese business community a good platform to invest in a safe and stable environment.

BBAC Sponsors the Book Launch of “Integrated Total Quality Management Strategies”
BBAC sponsored a book launch and seminar celebrating Dr. Adnan Al Aridi’s recently published work “Integrated Total Quality Management Strategies”. Led by BBAC’s Chairman General Manager Mr. Ghassan Assaf, the seminar brought together economic, business and industrial figures to discuss and give valuable insights on the topic of the book.
The event was attended by an array of academics, economists and businessmen, and was well supported by colleagues of the author.
Dr. Adnan Al Aridi, publisher and ex-consultant, banker and professor, covers in his book fundamental concepts of Total Quality Management, its principles and practices, tool and techniques, as well as, the methods of implementing it in different sectors such as banking, health care, tourism and hospitality.
